Scope of work:
Execution of material simulation for the prediction of materials microstructure and resulting mechanical properties. Transfer of available methods to new materials and manufacturing processes. The materials of special interest reach from nickelbase cast and wrought alloys over titanium to new materials as titanium aluminides and beyond nickelbase materials as well as high temperature coatings for turbine applications.

In Detail:

•participation in international research projects
•evaluation of process deviations/ concessions by means of materials simulation
•development and/or improvement of in-house software tools
•coordination of experimental test programs for simulation verification purposes
•software and database update testing and benchmarking
•result documentation in form of technical notes and presentations

Requirements:

•university degree in a related subject, e.g. computational materials engineering, material science, physics, mechanical engineering
•basic knowledge on high temperature materials and coatings
•experience at least in some of the following numerical methods: CALPHAD, Phase field, FDM and FEM, Cellular automata
•Experience at least  in some of the following material simulation topics: Precipitation kinetics and thermodynamics, grain growth and recrystallization, diffusion, crystal plasticity, oxidation and corrosion
•understanding of experimental procedures for materials characterization
•strong English skills in speech and writing for daily communication
•experiences in turbine engine business are beneficial
