IntOP2018: EMMC-CSA Workshop on Marketplaces and Interoperability
New: Some presentations are now available!
Market and product oriented industry problems are complex, demanding collating several modelling approaches with experimental and calculated data. This must draw intensively on multiple expertise stemming from numerous modelling communities, electronic, atomistic, mesoscopic and continuum as well as strong interaction with translators and industry. Enhanced barrier-free collaboration and information management across entire communities is a crucial element.
Large amounts of materials data (calculated and measured) are being generated continuously in multiple research organizations and labs in many universities across Europe and the world. Increasingly, more of such data is being stored and curated in numerous scattered repositories. Interconnected, interoperable data resources are essential for enhanced utilisation of these data in advanced materials modelling workflows.
Next generation systems integrating tangible and intangible materials model components such as Materials Modelling Marketplaces support enhanced innovation by taking advantage of recent advanced in information technologies to establish web-based online collaboration platform to explore, learn, and create advanced materials modelling workflows covering all models and domains enabling rapid transfer platform of materials modelling to industry.
Purpose of the workshop
The goal of the workshop is to bring together main actors developing next generation online materials science collaboration platforms including calculated and measured data repositories to foster discussions and collaboration.
Key is to achieve wider interoperability agreement based on common ontologies for concerted access of repositories of data and of services, enhance interoperability between materials models and integration of services.
The EMMC calls for establishment of a digital single marketplace as innovation hub for the advancements of materials based industries. The workshop addresses both key technological and organisational human capital gaps.
The EMMC is seeking support of the entire materials modelling community for the establishment of common standards for common access to all online materials modelling resources including data repositories of materials properties, online modelling workflows, translation, education and training services.
The Kickoff of the International Materials Ontology Interest Group
The workshop will also serve as a continuation of the EC ontology meeting and host a kickoff session for the International Materials Ontology Interest Group led by the EMMC. More details will follow soon.
Participation & Registration
Representatives from the industrial and academic materials modelling community covering different types of models and applications, database repository owners and project representatives. The workshop is limited to 50-60 experts.
Participation is per invitation only, so registration will only be confirmed if invited, nonetheless you are welcome to register your interest by contacting the EMMC. Please use the contact form here.
