The EU Workshop on Metadata and Interoperability in Integrated Computational Materials Engineering (ICME) and Multiscale Materials Modelling (MMM) was held on 10th of March 2016 (rescheduled from 26th of November 2015) at Covent Garden, Brussels.
The workshop is organized by the Integrated Computational Materials Engineering Expert Group (ICMEg), the EU Multiscale Modelling Cluster (EU-MMC) together with the Interoperability (IntOP) and Open Software Platform (OSP) working groups of The European Materials Modelling Council EMMC.
Materials models are used extensively across the world and to make efficient use of the generated data, a way of categorising them should be developed and agreed: meta-data!
Recent European actions under the umbrella of the European Materials Modelling Council (EMMC) and the European Multiscale Modelling Cluster (EU-MMC) have started to gather information and develop metadata, tools, simulations and interoperability with the aim to reach a common consensus on the best approach to boost ICME and MMM in Europe. The results of these actions will be presented and discussed in the workshop.
This workshop will focus on recent developments in meta-data covering both models and application (system) identification (physics and chemistry and materials) as well as computational metadata for interoperability and for documenting the simulation of the application/system.
